Visit from Shiew Yeu Loh

A couple of weeks ago we had the pleasure of welcoming Shiew Yeu Loh, Senior Outsourcing Manager at Riot Games, to our studio here in Quebec City. We were also joined by the folks from our sister studio KWM for the presentation.

Shiew’s visit was nothing short of inspiring. She shared her journey as a Malaysian artist who moved to North America to study art and eventually found her place in the gaming industry. From navigating freelance gigs to landing full-time roles with some of the biggest names in gaming, Shiew explained the challenges she faced but also the opportunities that came her way.
 
Her story hit home with many of us, especially as a studio with team members from all around the world and her experiences as an immigrant in North America truly resonated with us all. She also touched on what it’s like to be a mom in the gaming industry, a topic that also struck a chord with many of our team members, including parents and those expecting little ones of their own.
 

Her advice and stories were heartfelt and extremely relatable, making it a great discussion for everyone in the room and something that has continued to be spoken about to this day. Add in some slices of pizza, it was a really memorable and heartfelt moment for everyone there, including those on our team based remotely who thanks to our IT team, were able to log in and listen to the presentation in real time.

Thank you, Shiew, for spending time with us and sharing your journey. It was truly a memorable visit and you’re welcome back anytime!
